The BBPA Careers Fair 2000

Workshop: Modern Apprenticeship

Synopsis

This talk will be about the paid work placement and training schemes available for 16-24 year olds as well as for graduates. The schemes covered will be modern apprenticeships and those run by the Teaching Company Directorate.

Modern Apprenticeships were designed and launched by the Training and Enterprise Councils (TECs) several years ago. There are currently over 118, 000 young people in modern apprenticeship schemes across 72 sectors, from accountancy to welding, and the two largest sectors are engineering/manufacturing and business administration.

The Teaching Company Directorate manages various schemes available for graduates and those qualified up to NVQ level 4. These schemes enable the participants to gain a further qualification while earning a full salary and the projects can be work based or within a research establishment.

If you want to know more about these schemes, please come along to meet Tamanna and Marc. Remember these schemes are all about earning while you are learning! Who can say ‘no’ to that?!
