Synopsis
The voluntary sector consists of a spectrum of organisations
from small specialist support groups to international aid agencies.
These provide a wide range of challenging and stimulating jobs
but getting into this field is not always clear. This workshop
is brought to you by individuals who have followed different routes
and are familiar with the range of possibilities in this sector.
Aim
By the end of this session participants will have a greater knowledge
of the voluntary sector and the various career options within
it.

Profile of Facilitators
Sadeka Choudhuri (Chair)
Sadeka is a Development Officer based in Hackney, London for
the Prince’s Trust. Previously, she spent 18 months working for
BRAC in Bangladesh. She graduated from University College London
with a degree in Anatomy, and completed teacher training at the
University of Cambridge.
Mukid Choudhury
Mukid is a Community Development worker specialising in Ethnic
Minorities at The Kings Cross Community Development Project. Previously
he was a postgraduate fellow at University College London, where
he also completed his PhD in Fluid Dynamics. He was involved in
setting up the UCL Bangla Society, and is presently associated
with the Waves Dance Company.
Peter Bhari
Peter is s responsible for training at The Kings Cross Community
Development Project He graduated with a BA(Hons) in Drama from
Manchester University. He has been a volunteer with Nicaraguan
Child Rights Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Brazil, and
with VSO in Bangladesh as a Social Development Advisor and Development
Theatre Advisor. He is also a consultant with SCF, UNICEF, VSO
and the Royal National Theatre.
Jasmine Hossain
Jasmine Hossain is the Women's Development Worker at the Islington
Bangladesh Association. She graduated from University College
London with a degree in Geography and Anthropology. She has previously
worked in the Bangladeshi Women's Association in Harringey and
carried out research on Bangladeshi women's perception of space
and place focusing on their access to employment and training.
She was also the first female President of UCL Bangla Society.
