Chief Executive, Muslim Youth Helpline

The Muslim Youth Helpline (MYH) is a national award winning charity providing faith and culturally sensitive support services to young Muslims in the UK. Its core services are a free and confidential Helpline, and an online peer support forum.

The Board of Trustees are offering an exciting and unique opportunity to take command of this national youth led charity at a pivotal moment in its growth. MYH is embarking upon a period of rapid development which will see it considerably broaden the direct support services it offers to young Muslims across the UK, strengthening its role as a national voice influencing public debate and policy, and striving to actively build the capacity of the Muslim community to tackle its most challenging issues head on. This is a rare opportunity for an inspirational, committed and passionate leader to take the Charity forward to new heights.

The Chief Executive will work effectively with the Board of Trustees to formulate and monitor the vision, objectives and strategic direction of the charity. They will engage with a wide range of external agencies in the public, private and voluntary sectors to build effective partnerships furthering the work of the Charity. They will provide outstanding leadership and direction to empower and motivate the Charity's volunteers and staff.

The successful candidate will have a excellent grasp of contemporary social challenges facing Muslim communities in Britain. S/he will be a strategic and visionary thinker with the ability to inspire and motivate, have excellent communication skills and ability to manage change, and proven senior management experience. Good networking skills and proven experience of successful fundraising via major donors and experience in PR will be essential. S/he will have the confidence and presence to be an influential ambassador for the Charity, speaking to a wide range of audiences and able to comment on issues impacting the Muslim community and Muslim youth. The successful candidate will possess a good knowledge of the Muslim community, the voluntary sector and a passion for the aims, objectives and ethos of MYH.
